Proper old school cafe serving home cooked food with a smile. Best place in this area for sure.

This restaurant is a cafe/bar, now called Fernet Branca. There are 2 tvs here but volume is turned very low hence not intrusive. I like the retro interior filled with old posters, assorted alcohol bottles and paraphernalia from the 50s. I had a very satisfying lunch - it was called Pastry Zapallito Pollo y Queso - a pastryless, stew consistency chicken, zucchini, onion and cheese pie with flat bread served in a little paper bag. I found it very pleasant. Good service too, for once I didn't have to wait half hour for staff to approach. Glad I found this place before I left town. Warning they are closed weekends and don't open week days until close to lunch time - I went 3 times before I found it open!

Lovely place for empanadas and guiso de lentejas (lentil stew). Fair prices and good location right in the center.
